Iowa Hat
As I showed last night, I finished a hat. What a mess on the inside! But I think it turned out ok for my first design-
Inside-
Much neater than it was last night! I am not sure I did it right. I started this hat Satuday night and finished it Sunday night. It is made with Cascade 220. The Iowa Hawkeye design was winged by me! I traced the design and graphed it out. This is a Christmas present. So that makes two presents made and off the list! I am so proud of myself!
So then today, I whipped up something else-
Another view-
My Mom commented that she wanted a headband. So, I made one for her! I totally winged this. I used leftover Cascade 220 in a nice light green (leftover from Topi). I made up the design, it is kind of like a zig zag rib pattern. It took me about 4 hours. I hope it is the right size. If not, I figure I can lightly wash it to felt it a little. I hope she likes it!

One done...
and many more to go! I knocked out a christmas present. Clapotis-
This was knit with three balls of handpaintedyarn.com Ejido 160 in Cueros. I used size 10.5 needles. I did 3 pattern repeats for the width. It was started September 15 and finished on September 22. Not bad! I plan on "whipping" out several more of these for Christmas. I do enjoy knitting this. The yarn is yummy! I have more coming, in different colorways.
I made a trip to The Yarn Shoppe on Friday. I picked up some Cascade 220 in 5 different colors. I plan on making a few hats in assorted shapes and sizes. I have one almost done. Take a peak-
This is my first attempt at doing my own design. I should have a "cleaned up" version to show tomorrow. What a mess!

Not my work
That is what I am going to blog about today! I don't have any exciting news to show myself. I am cruising along on Clapotis. I did 3 increase sections and I am in straight section 9. I am planning on a long scarf, not wrap. Hopefully the intended recipient likes it. Christmas work- I am so proud of myself!
So, as I was saying, someone else's work! This past weekend, my Aunt Marilyn was visiting from MN. She is an excellent knitter! I love to just sit with her and soak up her energy! So Sunday I went to my Grandma's house. It was my Grandma, my Aunt Pat, my Aunt Marilyn and me. Sitting there telling stories. Laughing. Knitting. I have a great family- all the way around! Anyway, Aunt Marilyn is working on her Hanne Falkenberg Dacapo.
She is cruising right along. I think she said she started it in August sometime. She is loving how the pattern is unfolding. She thinks I should make a Hanne creation. The construction is neat. I will. Someday. Maybe next year. I need to have a little more experience and time! So Meredith, you better get your Hanne going! Aunt Marilyn is interested to see how yours is coming along! BTW, Aunt Marilyn is blogless, so I hope to show the finished project here. She says she will have it when she comes for Thanksgiving!

Drum Roll Please....
Presenting..........COZY!
Overall, I am in love with my final cozy product! I finished this late wednesday night. I wore it to a banquet thursday, before even blocking it! Damn I looked good with this on! I only used 7 of the 8 balls of Mandalay I had. And it is way big enough for me (I am vertically challenged!) It measures 24" x 70". It was my first real lace project. I started it in July. Put it down for 5-6 weeks! Finished it September 13. I don't think that is too shabby! I plan on wearing this all the time!
I started another Clapotis yesterday. Christmas gift for someone. I have already done two dropped stitch repeats. Cruising along pretty good. Otherwise, Aunt Marilyn is down visiting from MN. I plan on going out to see her with hopes of picking up some good knitting vibes! She is working on a Hanne Falkenburg design. I hope to snag a picture of her with her work in progress.

I had to have it!
I have been eyeing these for a while!
Friday night, Hubby & I and BF & Puppy, went out for dinner. Grown-ups only! It was good! We ate way to much! And then after dinner, since it was still early, we went to Borders. I love book stores, although I prefer Barnes & Noble for some reason. Hubby went to his section, BF went to hers, Puppy went to his, and I, of course, went to find the knitting books! Good thing I am on a budget, or I would have gone out of control! Always the same story when Hubby and I hit the book store. I narrowed it down to those two. I was trying to decide which one I wanted today, and which one I would get next time. Hubby finds me, says "Just get both". So sweet! But I knew why, he wanted an expensive book! Oh well! Works for me and both the items came home with me! I got The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns by Ann Budd and 365 Knitting Stitches A Year Perpetual Calendar. I love adult night!
As I had said in a previous post, the Chambray Brea Bag was for my Baby Brothers girlfriend. She liked it!
I am still not completely out of my "funk". I have been knitting some. Cozy is getting long! When I picked it up again, I was on ball 4. I am on ball 6 now, and that is major progress in a week! It is about a month until our anniversary, so that shouldn't be a problem. I think I keep getting overwhelmed when I think about all of the stuff I want to do for christmas! I have to narrow it down to a more realistic length!

Knitting a Little
I picked up Cozy again. It's cruising right along. I am knitting solely on this right now. It seems to be the only thing that has my interest right now. I have got to work on this "funk".
I got my last SP8 package-
There were 3 skeins of Sari yarn ( I had wanted to touch that!), Rogue pattern, kool-aid, mike & ike's, and a Halloween idea booklet. My family loves Halloween! So, Thank You SP8, it was fun!!
I have to go find "my groove". How did Stella get hers back?

Hog Days and Birthday Fun!
That is what my long weekend consisted of! These pictures sum things up -
Yummy lemon shake up enjoyed by Baby Boy
Big Boy turned four on Monday-
I made Big Boy a polka dot inside ice cream cake with strawberry ice cream inside. Exactly what he asked for. Then him and Hubby woke up monday morning sick and we had to cancel his party. We didn't want to expose everyone else. No biggy and he is feeling better today. Hubby, not so much. Kids bounce back so fast!
I have not knit one stitch since thursday! I am in a bit of a funk. I have got to work through that!
