Secrets and Accomplishments
I have finished four knitted items in the past week and a half. But, they are Christmas presents, so I will be keeping them to my self. I guess after Christmas I will have to have a big photo shoot!
I did get a washcloth done I can show off. My brother's girlfriend saw me making a dishcloth and expressed some interest. So I whipped this one up while I was at the hospital.
In case you can't tell, that is a steaming cup of coffee.
My yarn from Julie came also.
It is yummy! And it was made just for me! I think it will become a hat, for me! After Christmas though.
We took the boys trick-or-treating last night at the college. They had fun. I also took them out to the local pumpkin farm since it was so nice out! A great chance to try and get a nice picture of the two of them together. Not an easy task for my two busy boys.
There is a ladybug on the pumpkin. Baby Boy thought this was amazing!
We will be taking them trick-or-treating tonight around town. My Mom made them costumes. We have a cowboy and an indian. I will try to get a picture.
Otherwise, this weekend was spent partly in the hospital with Big Boy. He had the stomach flu, and got really dehydrated. That happens so fast when they are little. He has lost 4 pounds! That is alot when you only start out at 37 pounds! He is better now.
As far a me medically, I have an appointment December 18. No, that is not a typo. I am trying to get in with another surgeon! That seems a ridiculous amount of time to wait in limbo.

Not over yet
I got a call yesterday from my doctor. After the complete review of my mammogram and ultrasound, they are not ready to give me a clean bill of health. They want me to get a second opinion. From a specialist. I should find out today when my next appointment is. They are hesitant to rule out anything yet. So, that leaves me hanging. So, this is not over with yet! Send me some good vibes!
Knitting update this weekend, I promise!

Sharing
I have struggled for a few days over whether I want to share this. But, I think I will. To start, I think we all know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Does everyone do a self breast exam? I sure hope so! If you don't, or if you are not sure you are doing it right, here is a link to breast self-examination through the Susan G. Koman Organization.
So, to share, about a week and a half ago, I found a lump in my breast. Scared the shit out of me! Made me think about what is really important in life! I got in to my gyno Tuesday. She confirmed the lump. She says I need a mammogram and they have one scheduled for the next day! So Wednesday, after juggling a few different schedules, Hubby, BF and I are off the the hospital. All is OK. I do not have breast cancer, but they can't say for sure yet what the lump is. That is OK with me. They will figure it out. I also had an ultrasound on the lump. I am only 32. Young, but unfortunately, not to young for breast cancer.
So, please let my little scare remind a few of you out there to do a breast exam. And don't forget those yearly paps either! Isn't being a woman fun!?

A few pictures
Some FO's to start off with.
Do you see a turkey?
Do you see a bat?
These are my first attempts at dishclothes. I had the cotton in my stash and needed a quick project to occupy me while I recovered from current project boredom. They each took less than a day to complete. I sent the bat home with my Mom and told her to use it. She probably won't because she won't want to hurt it! The turkey I thought I would give to my Grandma, but I am not she she will be able to see the design. I think I may try it again in a colored yarn.
Next up, Log-Cabin Bathmat-
This is a Christmas present. I am using three strands of Peaches & Cream in Orange Sherbet on size 15 Denise Interchangables. I am loving and hating this project. I will definately log-cabin again, but I do not like working with cotton. I had a very swollen right hand by the end of day two of this project. So, my new plan was to complete one log per day, then work on other stuff. But then my cable connector on my 40" cable broke! They have great customer service and with one call, I should have a replacement in the mail by Wednesday!
Next up. I went to the Bishop Hill Fiber Guild Spin-In Saturday morning. I only had a few hours to spare. I came home with these yummy items-
What I have here is one skein of Kraemer Superwash sock yarn, hand dyed color called Jeannie. Next is Peace Fleece in a YUMMY burnt orange color. That Peace Fleece may become a scarf for myself, and the sock yarn will also probably be for me. I was surrounded by TONS of wool! I was very tempted many times to buy some roving. But I don't spin! So I just touched a lot!
And finally we had Bakersville Saturday night. It was awful weather and the night had to be called short. People were being shocked in some of the other skits because of the rain! But Hubby was a hit as the headless head juggler! Hopefully next year will be better!

Updates
So, it has been a busy week. I wrote out my Christmas To-Do list. Scary, so I kicked it into 2nd gear. I got a hat for Baby Boy made, Hubby's slippers finished, another pair of slippers finished, and one of a pair of slippers done. WHEW! My needles were smoking!
On Tuesday I attended my first P.T.O. meeting. It is official, I have a child in school! I paid my dues, so I am in. I have to keep an eye on these women.
Friday, got a call from Big Boys teacher. He had been there an hour! He had a fever and said his ear hurt. ot him, got in to the doctor within the hour. He has an ear infection and an upper respitory infection. What a nasty, germy place Pre-school must be!
We didn't do anything exciting for our anniversary. Hubby sent flowers and we ordered out!
Saturday, we did some yard work and are getting ready for Halloween. We will be helping with our local festivities. Bakersville is a haunted hayride through one of our beautiful parks. I will be behind the scenes and Hubby will be one of the entertainers. See-
He is the headless juggler in the skit, Bakersville's Got Talent. It should be fun, hopefully not to cold! I think I may try to whip up a new hat for myself before then.
So, that is a brief summary of my busy week. Meghan sent me some hate mail, wanting to know where that LYS is that I mentioned last week! Knit 4 Together Yarn Company is in Dunlap, IL. So, it is about 45 minutes south of me. They have been open for about a year. I just found them, so it is new to me. Nice little shop. No website. They carry Brown Sheep Company, so that is different than The Yarn Shoppe in Davenport, where I frequent. We live in between the Quad Cities and Peoria. So we go either way when we need something. Now I have a nice yarn shop to visit each way!
That is all for now! I have to keep knitting!

Six Years Later
October 13, 2000. Hubby and I flew to Las Vegas. It was one of the best decisions we ever made! I have so much now! A husband, two boys, a house, a good yarn stash, a comfy chair to read to my boys in and knit to my hearts content, and great family and friends! What more could a woman ask for?
Proof of this wonderful life we are building together-
Big Boy, Baby Boy and our dog Norman.
Thank you Hubby! I hope we have many more!
Knitting content this weekend! I actually got some stuff done!

What is it?
I think it is a bread cozy! See-
Actually, it is a clog for Hubby! I got the Fiber Trends Felted Clog pattern at a new to me LYS on Friday. Hubby wanted a pair. OK. The pattern has a mens size 13. That is Hubby's shoe size. I started last night. Finished one tonight. I laughed through the whole thing! It looked gigantic! Hubby said I must have read the pattern wrong, because that could not possibly be right. So I had to felt it before I started the second one in case he was right. It is a perfect fit! See-
Hubby learned a lesson- never doubt my knitting! Right away he was helping me wind the rest of the yarn needed for the mate! This is a fun knit. I had to pay attention. It kept my interest. Fun! I can't wait to whip up a pair for me!
More tomorrow about the new yarn shop and my purchases!

FedEx & Roll the Dice
Those are the names of the hats that I made this week. See-
Hubby was away on business all week. I made the FedEx hat in about 1 1/2 days. It is made from Cascade 220 and loosely based on The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns basic hat. I graphed out the logo. It's OK. I am working on my color work.
The Roll the Dice hat is for Big Boy. I made it with leftover Cascade 220. Baby Boy picked the colors for me as I knitted. All remnants from other stuff. So I would roll a dice and do that number of rolls of the color I was handed. It turned out really cute! I will get one done for Baby Boy this week some time. It is supposed to be 80-plus degrees for the next few days, so I better get that done! Ha! Ha!
Otherwise, I want to whip up mittems for The Boys soon. And the out-of-this-world list of knits for Christmas may need revised. I'm not sure if I am ready to admit that yet!
