Super Tuesday

CNN has been tuned in at my house most of the day (except for a few hours of morning cartoons). I took Big Boy with me to vote. He got an "I voted" sticker too, so was thrilled with his voting experience! So, I have just two words for you people in the Super Tuesday Primary states-

GO VOTE !!!!

Life Interrupted

I guess I really don't have a very good excuse for not blogging. And I have really gotten a lot of slack from some friends and family for not doing it! So here it is.

First, my new job. It is going well. I am part time and that is plenty for me. The first week we opened, I worked over 40 hours! But that slowed down quickly. I am not ready for that big of a time commitment. I am feeling the need to hold a little contest or something. So, Sunday, I will be posting about my new job. Maybe a little guess my job contest?

The holidays went well. No major glitches! Santa was more than generous to the Boys! I gave several knitted gifts and they were all well received. My Mom, Grandma, two Aunts and my SIL all got knitted socks. They alll fit and seemed to be loved!

Shortly before the new year, my grandmother had emergency surgery. She spent a week in the ICU, but sadly couldn't fight any longer. She was 92 years old and I have too many good memories of her to list even. I credit her for my love of baking. I am glad she got to spend a few good years with my Boys, although they won't remember her. This sad event brought LOTS of family back to the area for a few days. Even though this has been a sad week for me, I couldn't help but feel happy that all of my cousins were here! We spent several evenings up past midnight, just talking. It was very emotional leaving my Grandmothers late that night after the funeral. Yes, I was sad about Grandma. But I think mostly I was crying because they would all be leaving and life had to go back to normal.

Knitting? Yes! There has been a little knitting going on!

These are based on the Arch Shaped sock pattern in Araucania Ranco Color 107 , form The Loopy Ewe, with a random bright yarn for the toe. I would have had enough for the sock to be all one color, but that was way to plain for me! I love a brightly colored sock!! One is done, the mate is on the needles, barely going.

I started a pair of toe-ups in some beautiful handspun from Julie at Fiber Fluke.

The colors are bright and vibrant! The yarn is amazingly soft! I think these will become a favorite of mine!

Then yesterday, I started another sock. I don't know, I am feeling a little unsure about all my knitting, so I am finding myself casting on a bunch of different socks. Then I can pick up and knit whichever one feels right at the time.

This is a No Purl Monkey in J. Knits Happy Anniversary to Ewe, from The Loopy Ewe. These are flying off the needles! I think these may be a gift for someone special.

Lastly, Hubby scored a Wii for the family, the weekend after Christmas! A little detective work and some waiting and he came home very proud!

This is my Brother and Hubby playing tennis against each other. They were both sweating by the end of their game!!! It was funny to watch!

Thats it for now. I will be back Sunday for a contest for everyone!!

Distracted

I have been knitting. Holiday knitting. Not really anything for me. School for the boys is busy busy busy! And they both started tumbling. Oh yeah, that job. I don't want to talk about that. But I will be starting at the new local coffeehouse next week! A knitting barista!! Sounds fun to me! I just need a few hours for me. Even if it is work. And the few extra pennies here and there will be nice. The owners are super! "Family Friendly" is what they want to be. And they told me that of course my family comes first!! So I will update you all on that once I get rolling.

What have I been knitting? A select few in my family will be receiving hand knit socks! Proof is in the picture-

I am doing six pairs total. I have four complete and one of each of the other two done. Not bad start. I have 3 of 4 teacher gifts done. I hope to sneak a pair for Hubby in there somewhere. We will see.

I have gotten a few goodies. I have traded off some yarn that I didn't love as much as I thought I did for yarn that I do love! Here are a few-

I have been struggling with my stash. I have so many pretty yarns. But I feel sad when I put them in the stash cabinet. So today, when my space was overflowing with yarn I wanted to look at, I grabbed a ruler and hung a few skeins on it!! It is hanging in the big window by the couch where I sit. They are so colorful! Does anyone else do this??

I have a few pictures to end with that kind of sum up how crazy things have been around here.

Knitting needles- not just for knitting. Did you know that a size 9 needle is the perfect fit for a Fruit Loop?
